Installing a Akasa Apache Black [solved]

Hi,

So I recently bought a computer (2nd hand) and I'll admit I'm no computer tech.

My problem is I have a front intake fan that wasn't connected and I can't find anywhere to plug this fan in. The model is an Akasa Apache Black (model number: DFS122512L), it has some sort of 4 pin connecter and I've got no clue where it connects to the motherboard.

Other info:
Motherboard: MSI 790GX-G65
Case: Antec 300 case
PSU: OCZ Modxstream 700W
CPU: AMD X4 PII 810, stock cooling fan

Would be a shame to leave it unconnected any help would be appreciated!

SOLVED, thanks guys

That fan most likely has a 4pin PWM connector. And from the looks of it, your motherboard has no extra fan connectors.

You get a converter to switch it to Molex or SATA power. But the fan will only run at full speed

A 4 pin pwm can be plugged into the standard 3 pin mobo connection. The key aligns the correct pins. It will run full speed unless you can change it in the bios.

Does it look like this:

or like this?

The top connector is the PWM fan connector that should connect to the motherboard.

The bottom connector is a Molex connector that should connect to one of the power supply cables.

If your motherboard doesn't have any spare (unused) fan connectors and you have the top connector, you can get adapters like this:

Those only have three pins, but the 4th pin is for the PWM signal, and running directly from the PSU, you won't need it anyway.
