my brotherin law is trying to install se over 95 we put in the cd and it start the process but it then gives us the error that this version of setup will not work. i have tried both a upgrade cd and full version with the same effect. i even took of antivirus software any ideas????

you might try booting with a Win98 startup disk and renaming win.com or maybe copying the win98 directory over to the hard drive and running setup from that (in dos)

If you don't have files you want to save you should fdisk and format your hard drive. Providing you have the Full Version of Win98. You can do a full install with the upgrade Win98 as well but you need a 95 disk. If you do have files you want to save then maybe save them to a disk or a online hard drive and reformat.

I have to second jaydee116 advice to you there. When win 98 came out I upgraded 95. A month or two later I formated and reinstalled. It was like a completely differn't system.
