installing 250gb hard drive

I just installed a wd 250gb hard drive with a fresh install of windows xp on a abit is-7 motherboard. After the install windows xp shows using 108gb of space with 184gb of free space left. What gives? This can't be correct.

do you have service pack 1 or 2 installed? does you windows cd have either of the service packs incorperated?
