installed SP3, now shortcuts don't work

This makes no sense to me, but I duplicated it on 2 PC's so there must be something to it. Database is on the server, Datebase opened fine on both PC's. I update both to SP3 and double clicking the shortcut does nothing. I tried re-creating the shortcut and nothing. I ended up making a shortcut to access on both PC's and having it point to the database file, working now. But I'm sort of confused how/why adding SP3 caused both systems to act like this.
