Just got my Radeon installed, haven't done much with it but Half Life was beautiful. Anyway my dad tried to play Chessmaster 8000 today and it hangs at the start of the program. I do some digging around and find that this is a known bug when it has trouble with sound. Okay, so I download a patch for this and now instead of just hanging, it says that it can't initialsize sound and it exits. Soooo, I uninstall the multimedia stuff that came with the Radeon, thinking that it might not like the sound card drivers (Hercules Game Theatre XP by the way!). No good. So I tried to uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers, but everytime I try to do this the computer reboots. I've tried to uninstall with the uninstaller program, and I've tried to remove program in control panel, same thing. Where can I go with this? Sound is good, Chessmaster just can't figure it out. I tried to reinstall Chessmaster too, no luck. If you can tell me something I haven't tried I would appreciate it. Thanks.
