So, I have:
Asus a88x-pro
AMD A10-7850k
16 gb ram.
Silverstone 660watt 80+ platinum

Everything is working fine. I install the AMD r9 270x, and I get an error 94 from my asus motherboard which is pcie bus enumeration.

I then installed my AMD 5770 older graphics card, and my system boots just fine.

So I take the new r9 270x and install it in my older system that has a phenom x4, and it boots just fine. (My wife's system, where I got the AMD 5770 from.

Conclusion:
AMD 5770 works in both systems.
AMD r9 270x works in wife's system, but not my system.

I want the r9270x in my system, do I RMA it, or is there some settings in the bios, or something else that I should tweak?

If you are able to get into your bios, go in and disable the embedded GPU. Hoping when you say no boot, that it just means it wont boot all the way.

Nope. It won't post. I can't even get into the bios when it displays the error on the LED readout on the motherboard.

Well, lots of views, no solutions. Thanks guys. Going to be RMAing the card on Monday. Question though, should I RMA through manufacturer, or Vendor? I only got the card on Saturday, appears DOA.

I would go through the vendor first. If they kick it out for some reason, then go to the manufacturer.

The vendor will just send you a new one. The manufacturer will have to receive it, test it, and then determine if it should be replaced. So it will take longer.

Also the manufacturer doesn't typically send new cards but cards that have been reconditioned.

Can't you use the 5770 to get into the BIOS to disable the integrated?

Yeah OP.. Did you not try this yet...? Seems like the obvious next step before you go through the trouble of an RMA.

In my experience that error usually means the card is bricked. You could try updating the BIOS though if you don't have the latest. I've seen some reports that front panel USB sharing the PCI-E lanes can cause it. Remove the front panel USB header or move the card to the other PCI-E slot if you have one. If those don't work, RMA it.

Updated bios and removed front panel usb header. Also moved card to other pci-e lane, and nothing. Was just weird that it worked on older system. Was wondering if it might be a pcie 3rd vs 2nd gen error.

Yeah, seems a little strange to me too.
If anything I'd ensure the motherboard in your A10-based system is not the issue, since the dGPU worked in your wife's system. Do you have any other system you can test the dGPU on?
