Well, I just installed a new WD hard drive and transferred all the data from my old HD to my new one. I then set this drive up as the primary drive.

It booted up fine, buy my quick start menu is gone, and some of my icons have reverted to the ol' "I can't find a program so I'll throw up this white looking icon thing."

Not only that, but it's not reading my DVD drive (D: ) I tried switching the jumpers, but I might have done it wrong...

Anyone know how to get my quick start menu back?? Anyone know where the jumpers should I so that I will have 1 HD and a master/slave DVD rom/CD-RW Rom setup??

Thanks!!

VIA Western Digital's transfer software that came with the new drive.

sounds like it just copied, and not cloned... Norton ghost would have been a clone, and would have had no problems.

I've got Norton Ghost (and absolutely no clue how to use it...)

Should I try that instead??

Norton will make an exact copy. You want the "clone feature". It's under advanced features. I hook up both drives (I use different IDE channels thinking it'll be faster that way).

Just be careful about booting after the cloning is finished. I hearing doing so with two identical copies of XP can cause problems. Apparantly, Windows thinks there is a problem and tries to repair fouling up the installs. Just shut down after cloning is successful and unhook one of the drives.
I've personally never such a prob, but then I don't do winXP.
