Long story short, stock fan on my bf 6800gt started to crap out on me last weekend so I bought a nv5 and some ceramique. Took off the stock hsf and noticed quite the crappy paste job. 3 of the 8 ram chips had no paste at all on them, 2 had a large gob and the last 3 seemed alright. Core also had a ton of goop all over the place and part of it spilled over onto the pcb. I would expect better..

Took awhile to clean up but seems to be worth the effort, load temp is down 12c 🙂

(used ceramique on the ram, as5 on the core)

Yah, my BFG had crappy thermal material though it did at least have some on all the ram. Some AS C and AS 5 with my NV 5 fixed that 🙂
