Installed MS processor driver...WTF!!!?

I installed MS processor driver (latest version) from the MS website. I sat down and after a short while, I noticed the temps were lower than normal. I then raised the fsb a litlle, and the temp didn't move. I got brave and tried to "saturate the I/O bus") and see if that would do it; it did, but no errors or crashes after 1.5 hours (which is the norm). I then set the memory (Samsung PC2700) at CAS 222 1T and ran it at 146mhz FSB x 11 one hour of Unreal Tournament 2003 (UT2k3). No crashes for one hour. I was wondering if anyone has similar experience, or did I originally have a corrupted driver, and this one merely fixed a known bad one?

I installed the same driver about 2 hours ago. I went to check the PC health status and my temps weren't like.. out of the ordinary, although they were about 2-3 degrees C lower than most other times I've looked. I wouldn't call that hard evidence.. but when you say lower temps, do you mean 5+?

i got mine from Windows Update
anyway, i don't see a temp drop, probably, because i run F@H all the time😀

I'm glad that I wasn't imagining the temp. drop! I wasn't seeing more than about two degrees difference, but this setup never, ever fluctuates. I put a heater in fron of the case and brought the system up three degrees, and everything had too be backed off. My problem has always been that I like the memory timing to be maxed, then I raise the FSB just errors and problems crop up. Then I raise voltage till they go away. Maybe the cooler temps helped just enough to allow the boost I mentioned.

If you are maxxed out, I don't think that this will have much effect.

Thanks for the imput!
