Installed Linux on 2nd partition, can not boot to it...help!

Hey guys i have XP on my first partition and installed Madriva 2006 on my 2nd partition. After i rebooted, i have no boot menu, just goes straight to windows. Is there a way to add a bootloader after the install? I think i made the mistake of updating the partition's boot sector rather than the drive's master boot record. Any help, highly appreciated! Thanks

Yeah, you need to either install a boot loader on the MBR or on a floppy that you insert when you want to boot Linux.
The quickest solution would be to run the installer again, and see if you can bypass everything except the boot config, then set it to write the boot loader to the MBR.
If the installer won't let you bypass all the other stuff, then the next easiest thing might be to re-do the whole install.

is there a way i can make a bootable cd to load a bootloader? So whenever i want to run linux all i have to do is put the cd in?
