My PC will hard-lock whenever I try and run 3dmark2001se. It does this as soon as the first game starts to run.
Can anyone tell me what may be going on here? Do I even need the Intel Chipset Inf? It was on the ASUS CD so I installed it. Everything was working fine until I installed this. How can I remove it?

Here's my hardware:

Intel P4 2.53GHz
ASUS P4PE
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Corsair CMX512-3200C2
ENERMAX EG465P-VE(FCA)
80GB Western Digital SE HDD
Plextor PlexCombo 20/10/40-12A
LIAN LI PC-61

Well, I've removed and installed the Inf several times and each time I install it, it causes my 3D programs to hardlock my PC. Anyone else having this problem? Is there any fix?

I don't know what OS you are using, so this is a shot in the dark...

1. Wrong inf for OS. Shove driver for 98 into XP- bad things happen...
2. Corrupted file. D/L from INTEL website.
3. Outdated inf fiel. see #2

4. Don't install it, if your system works correctly without it.

If you uninstall it, the system works fine, and there are no "?" in Device Manager, then just skip it. I have some Pentium3's at work which have an unknown "PCI Device" until the Intel INF is installed.

Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned my OS is Windows XP SP1.

I've been told that I installed the Inf in the wrong order. The Inf and app. accelerator should be installed right after installing the OS and before installing any video drivers.
