Installed first SSD. how to optimize?

So i installed my first SSD, a intel 120GB g2 drive. I have AHCI enabled in the bios and i did a fresh install of windows 7. Also downloaded/installed the Intel SSD toolkit. Is there anything else i need to do? is trim enabled by default or do i have to manually enable it? I've also herd about aligning the drive is that needed?

Also this is by far the best computer upgrade i have ever done in my life. Programs open so fast its like they are done before im done clicking on them, and you can actually use windows right away on bootup it doesnt lock up for the first 10-20 seconds like spindle drives do while they are opening the startup programs.

If you are on the fence about buying one pull the trigger NOW 🙂

Also do i need to defrag a SSD?

Run the toolkit - one of the options inside it scans your system settings and advises what to do to improve life and performance. The usual thing that it suggests after a fresh install is to disable superfetch (which I did - there's a convenient button to do it in the same place). It was the same for my fresh install and one I did for a friend on his 80GB G2.

Thanks guys. disabled super fetch. Everything else was good. This thing truly ROCKS. I cant believe i lived this long without one. Plan to keep at least 40GB free so wont fill it up to much, its just a boot and apps drive, my games have there own hard drive.
