Installed EZ CD Creator 5, Now CD drive problems...

Well today I installed EZ CD Creator 5 just to see how it is compared to Nero, thats the last time I will touch that CD. Once installed it could not detect my CD burner so I just said screw it and uninstalled it. Then the problems came, after I restarted the computer both my DVD drive and Writer come up in device manager with exclamation points. They both say that the driver is either corrupt or non existant, I checked if the driver files that they use are still there and they are are. I have tried uninstalling them and reinstalling them but the same problem comes back up. I don't know where to go from here. I am using XP Pro if it helps, this is just really annoying.

Thanks for the help.

LOL! what he said :light:

Quite frankly it was the worst piece of software I have ever seen, I don't know how anyone could use it.

Hmmm I really don't want to reformat right now... Would an XP repair installation work? There has to be another way.

Ok bad news, I decided to try a XP installation to repair the current one but it got ugly. Once it copies all the files over after booting from the the CD it restarts. Once it restarts to continue the installation it can't find the file on the CD. Its probably becasue the CD drive isn't working properly in windows. Now I can't even get to my desktop because every time it boots up it wants to continue the installation. Is there any way around this, I want to back some stuff up before I format.

ECDC5 is not XP compatible unless you download and apply the XP patch and updates from Roxio. With those, it worked perfectly on all my systems - now using ECDC6 - even better. Nero can't do analog to digital music source conversion - for me it's a non-starter.

I've been burned by EZ Computer Destroyer too. This is obvious, but do you have any pre-installation system restore points you can go back to? I never got rid of the problems until I reformated with a fresh installation of windows xp. Now whenever I install anything that messes with drivers, I ghost and image of my hard drive and make a restore point. Good luck.
