Installed DX9.0a and updated 9500 Pro's bios with Warp11's

Ok. I installed the DirectX 9.0a runtime. After reboot, I decided to install Warp11's bios for my Sapphire ATI 9500 Pro.

Ok, the initial screen when booting shows odd stuff. lines across the screen. That is the only visual glitch I have seen so far. What is VERY odd is that XP had to redetect my video card and after it did, it thought I had a 9700 Pro. It was my understanding that the 9500 Pros could not be 9700s right?

I was going to do the 3DMark 2001 SE test for fill rates, except to my chagrin, I can't run 3DMark 2001 SE anymore. It gave me an error saying I must have DirectX 8.1 installed. Is that normal?

So I installed 3DMark 2003 build 330. And it crashed on the 3rd sound test with an error with sound. I will try the test again to see if it crashes in the same place.

Any ideas why my computer thinks I have a 9700 Pro? I doubt that it really is one.

I flashed 95pro128.bin from the warp11 zip file.

Thanks.

What brand of memory is on the card? If it has infineon memory try one of these depending on your memory speed. Should be the last two digits.

interesting, i haven't overclocked my 9500pro infineon 3.3ns... but i get the same prob as you with having DX9.0a nad trying to run 3dmark2k1, says i need 8.1
if i remember correctly, i could run 3dmark on my old comp before even having 9.0...is there a problem with my card?

and where can i get BIOS for overclocking?

thanks

I fixed the problem with 3DMark, I just reinstalled it. I checked my memory is it is Infineon memory at 3.3 I'll try one of those.

I just updated with that bios. I fixed the line problem at POST. It seemed after a few reboots it went away (same with the wrong bios). But uninstalled the drivers and computer still thinks I have a 9700 Pro. That shouldn't cause a problem should it? My computer seems to run games and benchmarks fine.

That's fine. I think that is supposed to happen. I believe the Warp11 Bios tricks Windows into thinking it is a 9700 so it can be overclocked ;)
