I installed a new Asus A7V333 motherboard, installed Win98SE and all Device Drivers and the computers performs great. But when I select Shutdown off the Start Menu it will shows the Splash screen saying the computer is shutting and it never shuts down or even tells me its safe to shutdown. I did a fresh install of Windows Twice and sat down went through each jumper setting on the motherboard. Still no shutdown. It will go off is I hold in the Power switch. The system is not overclocked at all, and the the system is running cool at 35C degrees. I shut off all power management in Windows and the Bios and still no Shutdown. Help!

I found the Problem. It's USB 2.0. I disabled it on the motherboard and next thing the machine shutdowns everytime now. I guess USB 2.0 is not Compitable in Win98SE. I wonder if it is under Windows XP.

Wierd! I use Win2000 on mine and USB 2.0 doesn't hang the system on shutdown. It does interfere with my SCSI card, however. I let Asus and VIA know about the problem, but no new drivers have surfaced in the months since then, so I leave it disabled too. :(
