Installed Aeroflow, temps higher than V9s!

I just installed the aeroflow I got today and used AS3, but temperatures for my underclocked machine are reading 128-130 F! What gives?

Edit: I'm using a normal fan to cool it down to 114-116 F. I really want the temps around 90-100 F at least w/o the other fan

Aeroflow is really overrated in my opinion

even for the price

for that matter, all of Vantec is overrated, it's all either rebadged or junk or both

Aeroflow does great on my P4 with a TMD fan. 35-45 *C under heavy load. Also have gotten great support from the company. :)

For the price, the aeroflow in its intended configuration does a great job compared to a more expensive alpha and swiftech. Reviews of this heatsink bear this out.

all bets are off when you change out the fan since the fan is at the heart of cooling performance. I'm assuming that you switched out for a quieter fan. More power to ya if you can find a quiet fan and good cooling. those two things generally are mutually exclusive when it comes to air cooling. It may best to hook up a zlman fan controller and find a compromise between temp and noise.

I own this cooler and my load temps on my OCd p4 only gets as high as 44C all day long.

I like mine, but it is on an overclocked T-bred/B running 10x190MHz @1.79volts and 45C under load.

Whoa, that's pretty good, I've gotta get one to replace my V7...

Hmmm, check your cables to get some better airflow. Also, make sure you have a thin almost transparent layer of AS3. Are you using the TMD fan it came with? And how much case fans are you running? I got 5 silent fans in my XP2K+ system, max temp is 45 C under heavy load or when my room gets hot. Also check your voltages, I put my system together and my Abit board made it run at 1.76 from 1.65 volts, not good. GL

I also have a Vantec Aeroflow and I must say, its one of the best AMD heatsinks around...

I finally got the heatsink off, reapplied AS3 and attached it. Temp is holding around 109-111 F. Done all in less than 5 mins :)

Mine works great at 38c - rising to 42c under heavy load. I got 4 case fans.

Also, according to SVC specs:

  • Volcano9: 4800rpm, 75.5 CFM, 48 db(A) Life: 50k hours or 5.7 years, <8.4 watts = 73.6 kwh/yr // 80x80 with a 25mm fan & 52mm sink

    Aeroflow: 5600 rpm, 35.5 CFM, 38 db(A) Life: 80k hours or 9.2 years <3.84 watts = 33.6 kwh/yr // 75x75 with a 15mm fan & 45mm sink

1. If I am not mistaken every 3 db(A) is double, therefore the volcano is more than 3 times as loud.
2. The volcano pushes twice as much air.
3. The volcano will last half as long.
4. The volcano uses twice as much power!
5. The volcano is physically larger
6. At Maryland prices, the volcano will cost you a dollar seventy more per year, or five dollars more in California!!!!

Hehehe... Last one was mostly for fun. Yeah, temps are cooler with the volcano, but it is bigger, uses more power, much noisier... etc... etc... etc...

The Aeroflow is a great cooler for the price and features, which make up for not pushing as much air as the monster Volcano9.

I have one on my P4 and just ordered one for the 2100+/Nforce2 combo I also just ordered and I got it Here for $28.89 shipped fedex 3day. One of the nice lil' extras about it is if you didn't have any TIM they include a decent paste with it so you could still get up and running.

DaPunisher, when you say decent do you mean comparable to arctic silver, or just better than the crap that comes with a lot of HSFs?

I have to confess I haven't used it but I'll google the brand that's on the side of the syringe when it gets here since I gave the one that came with my P4 model away and don't remember the brand.

Bacinator...3 db is twice the power[/] and will barely sound louder. 10 db will sound twice as loud.

I use the Vantec Aeroflow on my XP2100+ and am very pleased with it. 34*C at idle.

Depending on the current noise level. if 3db is 3/10 of "twice as loud", a 3db increase could be significant. When you play with your volume, do you adjust 10db at a time?
