Installed a Q-Cat and lost sound...HELP!!!!!

A buddy of mine was given a free Q-Cat from Radio Shack, which is a bar-code scanner that plugs into your keyboard and ps2 port. He installed it on his wife's Packard Bell and now she has no sound. In device manager it shows no conflicts with the modem or sound card. She uninstalled the Q-Cat software ":C.R.Q." but the sound still isn't there. I went on Q-Cat's site, looked in help and they didn't have anything to offer... Radio Shack told her to call Packard Bell...yeah right!
