Installed a boost gauge, need ideas on where to mount it discretely

Did the install yesterday, went really well. I'm happy with my choice of gauge as well, it matches very well with the rest of the interior. Now I just need it to become a permanent fixture. The two pics below show where I'm trying to mount it. Anyone have any ideas for how to do it? I was planning on ghetto-modding it with ducktape, but it won't stick (must have been the Aerospace 303 protectant I used on the plastic bits).

Excuse the fuzzy pictures, my only digi-cam is my phone.

I was thinking of punching(drilling) a hole in the plastic to run the lines cleanly into the cubby, but I'm unsure how to secure it. So ATOT a little help please 🙂

Wouldnt you want the boost gauge somewhere in the line of sight? I cant imagine looking down to my knees to see how much boost im running when going wide open throttle?
Btw what car is this for?

That's the whole idea, I want it to be more or less out of sight. I don't plan on watching it often, just to monitor things if I think something is funky. That and I don't really like any of the other mounting options A-Pillar, or column pod just don't look all that apealing to me. So my solution is to keep it as out of sight as possible, but still usable.

I think of it as no different than the people who mount their gauges below their radio, not very convenient to look over there but you don't have to all the time, just when you think something is FUBARed.

I'm thinking of hose clamps or something but thats as far as I've gotten so far. I was really expecting the duct tape to hold it 😱

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is for a Ford Pickup? Powerstroke I persume.

On Dieselmanor.com they have This one that you might like.

It was actually a picture similar to that inspired me on where I wanted to put mine. But no, not a Ford pickup, its a VW Passat. I wonder if I bought one of these pod things a single if available and then just sawed/sanded and otherwise mutilated it would work. Thanks for the idea/reminder 🙂

It should have came with a metal bracket for mounting it in the dash. All three of the ones I have mounted in my dash did. pic

edit
The bracket on the bottom right in the pic on this page is what I am talking about

wtf is the point of having it at your knee? So you can see how much boost you're pushing right before you wrap your car around a tree? 😕

Passat eh? There's no boost gauge in the center info panel on the cluster?

i seem to recall a modification to get one there if you car doesnt have it stock... just software i though. might be just A4's though? this was a long time ago anyways..

edit: like this

More info on this?

Don't put it by your knees, you will wreck your sauer kraut. get it as close to your current cluster as possible. It can be done without rice.

Edit: And the duct tape part... please say that was a joke.

If you don't need to look at it unless something is wrong, why not just put it in the glove box? Tape it down in there for all anyone cares, it'll be out of sight until you flip the lid open 🙂

How much Horse Power do you gain with the boost gauge installed?

more then the type R badge on your neon.

gauges aren't about adding HP, it's about knowing wtf is going on. I feel lost driving cars without gauges. I like to see water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, boost pressure, EGT, tranny pressure, Voltage, etc.

although I still think it's a lousy mounting position...

your going to want it in your line of sight, just to keep tabs on your boost.....dunno what else to say...i know you feel because i would like to do the same thing but i'm going to have it right in front of me to keep tabs on boost.

edit: i also agree on you with the monitoring the guages more than anything else, joke about rx7's is that you watch the guages and glance at the road.
