Hey guys. Ive run into a problem with my PC. I bought a hd4850 and installed it. Problem is, now the sata hard drive doesnt show up in bios or boot menu. If i try the old card again (x1950xtx) It works fine. Is this related to the card, or the HDD itself? If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. Thanks.

Specs are.

Intel Core 2 duo e8400
Asus P5NT-Deluxe motherboard
Vantec ION2 460w power supply
2 gigs generic ddr2

Wow, now there's something well out of left field. That sounds like a PSU problem, although 460W should be enough for that system.

I would of thought the x195xx series was just about as big a power draw as the little 4850?!...perhaps try another sata port?
Certainly a strange one!

That is of course if the PSU can actually do 460W. In reality no-name brands are terrible and that PSU is probably closer to 300W and offers very little if any ripple/noise protection.

Either the PSU is just garbage or there is a short in the new card.
