Installed 2nd 512mb stick

I installed a 2nd 512 mb stick of PC3200 memory on my Epox 8RDA+ mother board, but in the bios and under my computer/general tab, it only shows 512 mb. I installed the 2nd stick in the closest memory slot to the existing stick.

Any idea why I only show 512 with two 512 sticks installed?

You should install that stick of RAM in the third slot for dual channel memory mode. Try that and see what happens.

I'll give it a try...

I've installed lots o SDR type memory and it didn't matter what slot. I don't have any experience with dual channel mem installations so far, and this is the first time I added mem to this mobo. I suppose I could've dug out the manual eh! 😱

If you want to populate all three slots (why would you?), put 2x256MB in 1 and 2, and put a 512MB stick in slot 3. Or some variation based on that pattern. NF dual channel mode works best with equivalent RAM sizes in each channel.

So if I eventually wanted 2 GB in that machine, I should put my current two 512 mb sticks in slot 1 and 2, and a 1 Gb stick in slot 3?
