Ok. This is my first time installing a closed loop system. Just got myself an i7 2600k + P8Z68 VPRO/GEN3 mobo and a corsair H100. Installed the mobo and the processor and then went on to install the H100 on my Obsidian 800D. Immediately had a lot of head scratching moments cos there is no manual, just an illustration of what to do. The screws were really hard to get in thanks to the paint on the radiator, but i somehow managed them.
Then my real problem started, i fixed the backplate onto the motherboard. I am then supposed to fix those bolts onto the threads of the backplate holes. The confusion is: there are 2 sets of bolts and there is nothing mentioned on any document inside the box or on the box regarding which one we have to use for what. I went ahead with the smaller ones like an idiiot, removed the cover protecting the thermal paste and placed the block/pump onto the CPU only to realise that the bolts are too short. Had to pull out the block/pump with 30% on the thermal paste on the CPU. Then I quickly replaced the smaller bolts with the bigger ones and fixed it again. Is this going to be a problem?? Cos i feel that the thermal paste may not be evenly spread despite the "accident".
Ive not yet checked my temps cos i was completely harrowed by the whole experience and my palms were hurting like crazy trying to get the radiator fixed onto the case with the screws. Should i take some precautions before i boot up my system or is it safe???
