Installation/Optimizition Tips for the A7V333

I'm getting my A7V333 either Wednesday or Thursday and will be running an XP 2200+ on it. I'll be using an AX-7 heatsink with one stick of 333 mHZ Samsung Chip DDR. Does anybody have any tips on maximizing the performance of this board and any installation issues I should be aware off (I know the DDR Voltage should be lowered, can any confirm this?). Optimized bios settings would also be appreciated. What temps should I be lookin for (Aluminum case, two Antec 34 CFM intake, one Antec 34 CFM exhaust, and an adjustable (will be set max ~48CFM) YS-TECH fan on my AX-7 heatsink. Thanks

Chronic321, nice setup. The best piece of advice I have for the a7v333 is not to use the asus update windoze bios util. I did when going from bios 1005 to 1007, and really hosed things up. A new bios chip from asus didn't even solve the problem and I had to rma the board. It's back up and running now and is very stable.

I'm also using the AX-7 with a 40cfm sunon fan, which is much more quiet than some of my previous hsf's with 60mms. With an xp1600+(no OC yet), the temp is about 49-50C idle and 55C after a little Q3A, board temp is 26-28C. It's still the socket thermistor, so don't bet your house on these numbers. I'd still like to know why asus didn't use the ondie thermal diode to monitor the cpu temp!

Haven't really tweaked the bios much. I'm only running 256mb Crucial pc2100 in turbo mode, all default voltages (even on ram), etc.

Good luck with your new setup!

Any other thoughts? What about the DDR Voltage, the previous post said it was left as default. Should I leave it default or lower it? (I want my ram to last but also want maximum performance). Any bios optimization tips, updating tips. Thanks

Here's a joint effort between onelin0 and myself to compile useful A7V333 info: thread You may also find enlightening info in the adventures of SpiffyGuy here: thread #2 Hope that helps some 🙂
