Installation of the Mobo

How hard is it to install a motherboard and a new CPU
I really dont want to fry something and have to pay for another one
It's the first time i install something other than the memory :(

any tips ? thanks

Oh and btw the motherboard is a gigabyte GA-k8vt800

1. Ground yourself (shock yourself).
2. Be careful when installing the heatsink and fan assembly (I snapped mine the first time.)
3. Grab the processor by the edges, and carefully and evenly push it into place.
4. Do your best not to scratch the board with a screwdriver.
5. Make sure all your connections are secure and in the right place.

ground yourself..? Could you be more specific please :p and why the use of the screwdriver?


Oh and im thinkin about practicing on this old mobo first

By grounding yourself, I simply mean touch a metal object, like a door knob, to remove static electricty in your body. This will help in preventing something from being fried. And if you installing a motherboard, won't you need to use mounting screws to keep it from sliding all over the place?

A good way to ground yourself is to install the PSU in the case (if it isn't already), plug it in, turn the rocker switch off, and touch a metal part of the case to ground yourself.
