Installation of Office Pro 2010 64 bit installs 32 bit instead

I'm trying to install Office Pro 2010 64 bit but the stupid installation apparently installed the 32 bit version instead. I thought it was supposed to automatically detect which version to install but didn't for some reason. I checked the disk and there are two directories x64 & x86. I ended up uninstalling the programs and ran the setup utility manually but the 32 bit version installed again. Any ideas?

Googled it up but didn't find my answer. I, however, learned that 64 bit isn't even recommended by Microsoft for various reasons so I guess I'm just going to use the 32 bit.

Yea, using the 64-bit version would mean that you need 64-bit builds of all of your plugins and such so it's not recommended yet. It's basically out there just so developers can begin building and testing, much like XP64 years ago.
