Install xp over an old xp

I'm upgrading to a new mb. If I reuse my hd, should i reformat the c: parition? Will the install give me the option to install 'over', or format? Will the new board even recognize the old partitions?

boot it up w/ your xp cd and it will boot from the cd. There will be options to format your drive, to partition your drive, and to install windows.

your new board will recognize your partitions. win xp pro gives you the option of deleting / formatting / creating partitions. have fun!

A repair install is possible if you wanna keep all the contents and it doesn't work with the new mobo.
Sometimes you have to do a repair install especially like going from a via to nvidia chipset. Sucks sometimes. Anyways, good luck
