I bought a new 120GB drive, added to my computer. I installed XP on the 120GB drive with my old drive still there (Windows ME installed). Now the new 120GB drive with XP has drive letter F, and the old drive with Windows ME has drive letter C. I tried to change the drive letter, but the option is not available. How do I fix this? Or do I have to re-installed XP again? Thanks for your help.

I think one way would be to install XP again with the slave disconnected. But try this: right click My Computer, hit Manage go to Disk Management on the left, and start right clicking partitions while hitting "Change Drive letters and paths."

XP notices that you have win9x installed and gives C to that OS. 9x needs the C or it wont function. You can't change the letter of the OS install after it's done. you'll just mess up the install.

as Ionizer86 said, install XP with the other hdd disconnected.

Thanks guys. I have done that. Now, after XP is installed, when I connect the 2nd WinME hard drive, will XP reassign a drive letter for that drive?

Yes, it will.

And you will be able to reassign the drive letter for any drive other than the one WinXp is installed on.
