New apps, yeah. 98-based apps it works fine.

But it's definitely not something you should expect to get a good gaming experience from except in rare instances. It is, however, the most advanced OS that supports 3dfx video cards. This is important to fans of the original Carmageddon, who preffer that their graphics don't suck. ;)

I always found ME worked quite well when it was properly setup and I have even had computers that have run ME for over a year with out any problems..while it isn't as good as Win98se(I always liked to have some form of DOS support back in the OLD days)Its still a good OS..you just have to know how to set it up correctly

Apparently you have some special windows ME setup trick that only you know because the rest of the planet thinks windows ME sucks. My wife has a computer that started out with Windows ME on it and was always crashing so I wiped the hard drive clean and did a fresh install. Same thing. All sorts of random crashes and lockups. Funny thing happened when I installed Windows XP on the exact same computer. No more problems.

I have heard of the problems that ME had, but i have never experienced them, I found it to be a good OS..a bit sluggish compared to earlier Windows but still nice and pleasant, very reliable, I've had more problems with WinXP than I ever did with ME..Maybe I'm just lucky..I guess..come to think of it I even Liked Win95BOSR2, I thought that OS worked well for me

I liked win95b osr2 and win 98se but I never had anything but trouble with windows me. I'm pretty happy with windows xp. It's been pretty stable for me.

I like WinXP too, I have been running it for a few years now and I have found it to be reasonable good, I had a few problems when SP2 first came out but I got that sorted, It's just that I had NO problems with ME, but I undestand that It was considered a dog of an OS..so there must be a good reason for it..I just don't know what that is because it always worked for me.
Although I must say that win2k sp4 was my pick of the MS OS'es, it always ran fast and stable

This outta piss you off ;) I installed 98se on a brand spanking new a64 system last week. Damn is it fast!! no kidding.

I still use winME on one of my other rigs. I haven't had a problems with it either.

You should be running the OS listed in your signature on that brand new Athlon 64 system!! Too embarrassed to list Windows 98SE in your signature for the specs of even that halfway good Mobile XP 2600 system. I'd be embarrassed to list a POS OS in my signature if that's what I was running on my system. Just admit it, that's the only reason you list Windows 2K Pro as your OS for that rig even though you run it along side 98SE. It's only a matter of time before that POS OS breaks on itself. Try installing it on an SLI rig with an Athlon 64 dual core CPU. It wouldn't even work!!;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Can't list the 98se on the new a64 rig. Know why? It's not my rig, I built it for a friend of mine who's a professional PROGRAMMER/software developer

Have a nice wekend!

You changed your signature. You paried a POS OS to the right of a quality OS!! Windows 9X/ME both suck!! You did that just because I mentioned that your signature lists only the quality Windows 2K Pro for your Mobile XP 2600 rig and didn't list the POS Windows 98 OS.

You did that just because I mentioned that didn't you?:D

You've got to be kidding me! It's not even your rig and you loaded a POS OS like Win98 on it for your friend. Do your friend a favor and at least load a quality OS like Windows 2K/XP on it. Is Windows 98SE the only OS you loaded on that rig for your friend?? I hope not!!

No, I put win2kpro on there too.

His previous rig was a old POS 400mhz job with win98 "original" :)

I'm already regreting (almost) helping him. He's neither familar with 2k nor dual boot rigs. I am getting panic calls about once a week now. First one was when he installed a new optical mouse. I got a panic call about an error message regarding "missing NTLDR" and he couldn't boot!

Well, come to find out he hadn't removed the floppy with the mouse drivers and so was trying to Boot from the mouse floppy

Today he called me at my home b4 8am (I was still asleep) with another panic call about losing internet access. He d/l'd some trash proggie and dorked his connection.

Gawd, what's next ?

I just shoulda said "Dude, you're gettin a Dell"
