Install windows 8 and a new SSD

I received the Intel 330 180gb SSD for Christmas and Windows 8 Professional.
I am now running Windows 7 using a 1 tb Western Digital HD as my C: drive. I also have a 250 gb drive with pictures, documents and other files on it.
I would like to install Windows 8 along with the new SSD but would like ideas on how would be the best way to go about it.

I built my own PC a few years ago and have the following:
Processor Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB
Case COOLER MASTER RC-692-KKN2 CM690
Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 LGA
Combo price for Processor, case, & Motherboard
Memory G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL
Hard drive Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS
Power Supply COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M600
Monitor ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full
DVD DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 OEM
Video Card SAPPHIRE 100296HDMI
Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Student 3-User

If there's nothing else on the 1tb, I would just remove it and replace it with the new SSD, then proceed as normal with installation of your Win8 OS. I would think you could still access the 250gb with your pictures and stuff on it.

There are a lot of programs, files and documents on the current C: drive.

I have read numerous poor reviews about Windows 8.

Should I even bother to install it at this time?

Yank the 1TB drive with Win 7.
Install the SSD.
Put Win 8 on it.
Give it a try.
If you like it, keep it. If not, load up 7.
Either way, later on once (if) things work, reattach the 1TB drive so you can access your data (and have it available to put more data onto, and so on (a different subject).

If the install on the SSD totally botches you can always just stick the 1TB back in.

There's a thread around here with a poll about 8, and the last I looked more people than not seem to like it. May as well try it and find out. Easy enough to check for yourself where you fit in.

Nothing wrong with Windows 8. It's like Window 7 with an extra "Start screen" that looks like a tablet screen. You can just skip that and go straight to your desktop. I kinda like Window 8.

Thanks guys. I am sorry for my mistake. I am trying to install Windows 7 on the SSD. My current 1tb HD has sector errors that prevent me from doing a clone. I want to do the clean install on the SSD for Windows boot.

Just power off, unplug the 1TB WD, connect the SSD to the primary SATA port, power up, insert the Win7 DVD into the drive, and boot off of it. (You may need to change your BIOS to make your DVD drive boot first.)

That should be all you need to do.

Then install drivers.

Then do Windows Updates.

Then install programs.

Then power off, re-connect your 1TB WD drive to a secondary SATA port, and power-on, and you should be done.
