Install Win98 on old Legend V HElp!!!

I am trying to install windows 98 on an old motherboard which is a Legend V. Id id a format and an fdisk but when I try to install 98 from a disk it is saying it needs a dos version of atleast 5.0 How do I update the version of DOS or get around this problem?
