Install/Uninstall Problem - Please Help!

Hey everyone a friend of mine just bought a nano and tried to install the software and somewhere along the lines the install just didn't work out correctly. So, I went over there and tried to uninstall all of the stuff through the control panel and it just freezes. If I try to reinstall it won't even start. It does look like I can uninstall other programs but I'm at a loss as to what to do about this.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm sure I could bring that iPod over here and hook it straight up to my computer so I'm sure this is some sort of bad install issue where there is something sitting in the registry or somewhere that is blocking off attempts to uninstall/reinstall.

I have seen that happen when their is a previous version of quicktime installed and a later version is installed, Don't know if that is your problem

I think that's what it is. I did some digging around on Apple's web site and apparently this is some 'known' issue... meaning 'known' to everyone but Apple or some such. The problem is that no one really knows THE way to fix it so I have a lot of different things I'm going to try the next time I'm there.

Try uninstalling the older version of quicktime first, through the uninstaller in the start menu. If that works, try uninstalling the software and reinstalling, or, If XP try a system restore, Then uninstall the older version of quicktime, then proceed with the software installation.
