I've noticed that for *any* program I install...the progress indicator will move quuickly to 99% and then pause for 10-30 seconds...then resume.

Is this common or do I have an odd config. settings?

do you have antivirus running? sometimes that will make the install hang. i noticed i get that sometimes...maybe its all programs but i just havent realized. i dont think its 10-30 seconds though. its more like 5 seconds.
 
No...I have no installed apps running automatically...other than what win2k would have done...

no task mgr./schdlr...
