Install problem

I'm trying to install the Win7 beta on a separated partition.

My disc works fine, as it installed on a friend's machine no problems.

The drive I'm installing it to is a 500GB drive, and I've partitioned it about 6-7 times now, the last attempt had over 60GB in a brand new partition, so I know it's not requiring more space, but the setup always says that partition doesn't have the required space to install Windows.

So I'm at a loss of what to do next.
 
Make sure the Partition you are installing to is Not Allocated. Second, I am going to assume you have a sata drive, so make sure thats the first up in boot order.

I had a rough time trying to install my setup on my Scsi Raid card, ended up it would not work as the driver I needed to feed it was not wqhl, which I guess it needs to be for a boot off the controler from scratch.

I ended up installing on a 500gb WD but wasn't happy with the install, so I DL'd Server 2008 and converted it into a work station which has the drivers I need incorporated. Heck, I even modified the .inf file and still couldn't boot 7 on the Scsi controller. Good luck 🙂

Sometimes a partition will be classified as a data or secondary partition and I think some OSes don't like that, make sure it's an active partition.
 
Leaving it unallocated doesn't work, as telling 7's setup to format it turns it into an extended partition... which doesn't make any sense to me, doesn't it have to be a logical??

Also, boot order may be an issue I have to look at in BIOS, but it has to install first, so that doesn't have much to do with why it is saying it doesn't have any room.

And yes, it is a SATA drive.

EDIT- Tried making it a primary partition, still no go.

Making it active is a possiblility, but I want this to dual-boot, and isn't there only one active partition at any given time?
 
Is it looking for a driver perhaps? If it is, you'll need to feed it 1 of course, seems usb/flash drives are what most use. If thats what you figure could be the case, put the controller driver on a usb drive and click Load Driver at the screen where it shows the partitions etc. That would be my best guess anyhow without knowing the rest of your setup.

How many partitions do you have total? IIRC, MBR is limited to 3 primary partitions. So if you're trying to create more partitions, they'd all be extended (although I thought Windows could boot from extended partitions).
 
Well, it looks like you have 3 drives there, maybe try just booting with the drive you are attempting to install on, then if that works, once the OS is installed shut down and reconnect the others?
