So I downloaded the most recent nVidia drivers and extracted the executable to a folder using WinRar. I want to do a manual install of the drivers so that only the driver, and nothing else, is installed. Even though I do this through Device Manager, PhysX and Stereoscopic3D and whatever else is bundled with the driver install anyway.

I only have a 9600GTS. I don't play any games that need anything else other than the basic driver installation. I don't want that other stuff on my system. How can I install the drivers, and only the drivers?

This happened in both Windows XP and Windows 7 32-bit. I would appreciate if I could get some information for both operating systems, but I think Windows 7 is the priority right now, and I would like help with it primarily.

your on the right track, once you use winrar or similar to extract the main exe, in the folder you have to delete the 3dvision and the Phyx .exe files in the folder. then just run the setup and it will install only the drivers.

also you can after extracting the main folder go into device manager right click on the video card and properties. then the driver tab and click on update drive and point to the extracted folder and it will only install the video drivers as well
