Install GLX and get no GUI

I have downloaded the i686 Kernel file for RH7.2 and apply it. Download the GLX file 2880 drivers and apply them. Re-boot and the GUI will not work.

I have edited the Config-4 file, from "nv" to "nvidia" and deleted "load GLCore and "load dri "

any other suggestions on how to get this to working ?
