Install Catalyst 5.6 - ATI AIW Radeon 9700 Pro

Over this past weekend, I tried to go through it quickly, but after the install completed, none of the WDM devices were not found properly.

So, for my second attempt, I actually got out my original Install CD. It crashed repeatedly in the middle of the installation process. Obviously, this was not a success.

Thus, I am going to try again tonight with the following process:

FDISK - Install Windows XP w/SP2 (slipstream on CD)

System Prerequisites
1. Microsoft .Net 1.1

2. Microsoft DirectX 9c

3. Microsoft Windows Media Player 10

ATI Catalyst 5.6
4. Display Driver

5. Control Panel

6. Catalyst Control Center

7. WDM Integrated Driver


ATI Multimedia Center
8. Remote Wonder

9. DAO/MDAC

10. DVD Decoder

11. Multimedia Center

Don't forget the .net security patch as well.

I didn't know that you needed Windows Media Player 10 for any video driver - is this just for the Catalyst 5.6 with CCC?

Personally I'd just get the Display Driver + Control Panel package and use that. You can do all of the other stuff later. Forget .net and Media Player.

Also, DirectX 9c comes with XP SP2, so you shouldn't even have to worry about installing that.
