Have a laptop that cannot boot off anything but an external floppy. The USB CDRom will not let me boot off an XP disk.

Since I have another laptop that can handle everything, I was thinking of copying 2000/XP setup files to the drive and booting off it. Would this be possible? If so, any simple way to do it? I don't think just coping files from the installation CDrom would work. Or am I wrong?

are you sure there isn't a recovery partition on your drive? many computers that don't come with CD-ROMs or floppies have these partitions. Looks around on the net. For a JVC sub-notebook that I used, you had to press alt + F8 during the initial boot in order to get the recovery operation on the go.
