Install 2 power supply in 1 PC

I was wondering is it pssible to install 2 power supply in a PC? If so how do it do it and is there any link teach you how to do it? I think I have too much things in my PC and I am running low in power. I have an extra PS sitting at home so I was thinking instead of spening another $100 on a new PS maybe I can just use 2 PS in my PC.

This is my current setup

P4 3.0
1G Geil (dual channel)
SB Audigy 2 ZS
2x Seagat 160 SATA HD
250G Maxtor HD
ventex fan controler
Plextor DVD-RW
Pioneer DVD-ROM
NEC DVD-RW
ATI Radeon 9800XT
Abit IC7-MAX3
Cooler Master Jet 4 CPU cooler
4 system fan (unknow brand)
----------------------
Enermax 4230W

If it's an AT powersupply it would be pretty easy to set up if there was enough room in your case to fit it. You could attach it to your fans and optical drives to take a little of the load of the main PSU.

I think you'd be better off with just a single strong powersupply though.

This XClio 450 for example

Thanks for the quick reply I am thinking of the Antec Ture Power 500 or 530. There is 2 version of the 500 one is 2.0 and one is True power II is it the same they are $1 different.

Seasonic's PSUs are more efficient than Antec's. eWiz.com usually has good prices on Seasonic PSUs too.

eWiz stopped their awesome priceing about the middle of last week 🙁

Another vote for Seasonic if you're going to buy at $100 range one.

i have antec and seasonic.. seasonic got my vote due to the deal i got last week and how quiet it is with the bigger fan.. 🙂

Not worth it. Just buy a good 500W powersupply.

EDIT: Unless weird things are happening, then you don't need 2 power supplies.

with your setup there really is not reason to get such a large powersupply, unless your are planning a major upgrade. you could easily get by with a quality 400W or even a 350W.

Are you sure? My system is not running very stable and I have tested all the hardwares in my PC and it come down to the PS maybe the PS is just running bad around 2 years old. I thought Enermax is a good brand....

i have the same setup as you, except you have one more hard drive, one more optical drive than i do, and a cpu cooler. i'm running my setup on a 350W coolermaster psu that puts out 16A on the 12 volt rail. i think you'd be fine with any quality unit that puts out 20+A on the 12v rail.

I was running on an Antec 380W (18A 12V)
