I have been pulling my hair out for over 8 hours trying to install the new Radeon LE 128 that I bought my daughter for XMas.

I purchased a new Shuttle AV18E Mianboard, Celeron 1.1a Tualitin CPU, and Radeon LE 128 vid card to upgrade my daughter's computer. I have installed three different OS's (98SE, XP Pro, W2K Pro) after a complete format each time of the hard drive and have the exact same problem with each OS.

The Radeon drivers will not install and I get a message in Device Manager Properties for the Radeon card that states::

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (Code 12)."

It is trying to access B0000000 to BFFFFFFF that is not accessible. I cannot find anything else that is using this memory range through the device manager.

I can not find anything in the Mainboard manual that specifies anywhere to free up this memory and Windows doesnt like to relinquish memory blocks easily. I cannot reassign the memory range as I cannot access the manual entries as they are all greyed out in XP and W2K.

Anyone have any suggestions?

So this is a Made by Ati card? And you are trying to install what driver set? If you are trying to install the Cat. 3.0 with-out DX9 already present in the OS, I could see a problem. I assume you are not occupying the PCI slot closest to the AGP slot with anything.

Sounds like either a bad card, or mainboard maybe?

"So this is a Made by Ati card? "
No, Powered by...manufacturer unknown at this time. Purchased through ENPC.com

"And you are trying to install what driver set? "
The drivers that came with the card as I cannot access the internet to download the latest.

"If you are trying to install the Cat. 3.0 with-out DX9 already present in the OS, I could see a problem. "
The installation wizard installed the DX version that it came with...8.1

"I assume you are not occupying the PCI slot closest to the AGP slot with anything."
The PCI slot next to the AGP slot is empty.

"Sounds like either a bad card, or mainboard maybe? "

The machine wil run in 4bpp 640 x 480 mode. I have accessed the internet (through another machine) and downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers...havent had a chance to try installing them yet. The Mainboard Bios upgrade that is available is the original offereing that came with the Mainboard. No upgrades available for the BIOS at this time.

I am going to try to remove all add-on cards from the Mainboard and remove their drivers, then leave the vid card in the mainboard and see if it will install as the only card on the board. I will also try to disable all options that are resident on the mainboard such as USB and Parallel ports through the BIOS.

So the Video card will at least run in 2-D only DOS mode. I think your card is bad. Of couse you could confirm this by installing another AGP card if you have one.

OK...I resolved the resources thing.

I removed all add-on cards (except the Vid Card) and disabled all on chip peripherals. I then rebooted and VIOLA!. the card is now installed...drivers and all. I then re-installed my add-on cards one at a time and found that the Netgear NIC card (dam I go through these fast) wouldn't connect to my LAN or the internet. I installed a new NIC and am now up and running.
