Makes sense, bigger pictures take up more bandwidth. Lots of pixels to move around, there's also the possibility of clogging up the internet due to oversized pics.

My guess is it's Instagram taking action in response to people reporting the images.

The teen, who was bullied and body-shamed throughout high school because of her size

I don't think it's just her size (unless her community happens to be meaner than average), she probably rubs people the wrong way or for whatever other reason people don't like her.

obscene pics decrease popularity, attractive one increase, simple rule, makes all the sense. After all its not a free govt program, they are in to make money.

This thread delivered all of the responses I was hoping to read. The Sir Mix A Lot reference was a bonus!

i have to agree with Instagram on this one. we have become a nation of pussies. always trying to be politically correct so as not to offend anyone. no more catering to the fat community (pun intended). if we don't put our foot down, they'll continue to post fat pics under the guise of the 1st amendment. no no no! george washington would never have discovered America and james madison would have taken a dump on the bill of rights if they had seen all of the layers of fatness that we are exposed to today. have some shame, my obese friends, and wear a burka to cover yourselves.

I like this comment. Claims she was healthier at 300 lbs than a doctors cheerleader daughter. LOL.

So when I was almost 300lbs, running 5mi/day, playing sports year round and having a doctor tell me I was healthier than his cheerleader daughter isn't healthy.

"body-shamed" - What a stupid fucking phrase.

Edit: so just read the "article". So, apparently, this girl refuses to believe that posing around in a bra and underwear is inappropriate, instead she makes up a fake claim of 'body-shaming'. Walk into a restaurant or walk down the street in your bra and underwear and see if the law thinks it's inappropriate.

Pick one or the other. If you walk into a restaurant in your underwear they have a right to refuse to serve you. Walking down the street is an entirely different matter. Very few jurisdictions would have laws outlawing underwear in public or even attempting to legislate what exactly is underwear and what isn't. As long as your underwear covers the body areas described as naughty in the local indecency codes you're not breaking any laws.

I wonder what the final solution is to the fat question.

TFP had some ideas.
They should start making purses out of the skin of fat people. Since fat people don't do anything, their skin is soft, and perfect for use in fine clothing and accessories. All that needs to be done is a good an thorough cleaning to get the grease and stench off, and you'll have a fine product for sure. Everyone knows this.
