Instability Troubleshooting Help Wanted

My Aenima rig has a really disconcerting problem when I bottom out the cpu, say, ripping/encoding mp3s, or even sometimes just completely at random; It just locks up completely, mouse freezes, screen freezes, bamn, that's all I got, sitting there looking at a pretty picture of the last thing I was doing and a pissed of reach for the reset button ensues...

😕

I hope its not the cpu or the board, I'd rather blame something else stupid I'm not considering. The cpu runs a slight bit hot when i floor it, about 62 Celcius sometimes, but I know 60 for the Athlon Tbirds is acceptable so I don't think its just choking on the heat... Its got a reletively modest Coolermaster HSF on it. Mind you I didn't mount any of it, got it online preassembled on the mobo with a nice warrenty void label over the lever... gotta love that.

So, my question is, beyond, wtf else could it be is how would I begin to test and figure it out, situation the way it is? Houston, there is a problem, now please help me figure out what 🙂

60 celcius that is HOT, did you mega overclock it, make sure you hava good cooling fan(i youve got some in your wallet)

those warranty void labels suck, it means you can't really do much to troubleshoot your system - what i would do if i could open the system would be first to bring down that temp (maybe with some extra case fans), and then pull everything out and troubleshoot every component.

but, since you have the warranty, send it back and make it their problem!

I would guess that is may be one of these things...

Power supply! If you are using 100% processor, it's gonna draw more power. If your PS can't handle it, you may lock up or reset....

Ram! If you are overclocking your system, your ram may not be able to handle the overclock.

Heat! If you are O/Cing or ruunning at 100%, you are creating more heat. Figure out a way to disapate the heat.

Personally, I would say screw the warrenty and replace the fan and add some artic silver......AMD processors are cheap and can be replaced very easily.

Steam off the warranty label then you can put it back if needed. Is this cheating? heck who knows.
