Inspriron 9400 or M170

I received a e1705 back in late February and have been nothing but impressed with the system. It runs extremely well and after upgrading my RAM to 2 gigs, has run all the games I play very well (only EQII is past its limits).

However, I was unfortunate enough to receive a bad Samsung screen with excessive light leakage. After a month of waiting and a long string of complaints, I was finally transferred to Dell's resolution center. The resolution agent wants to put me in a XPS with comprable specs. Everything on my new order is comprable or better except the processor. I am pleased to have a better wireless modem and graphics card, etc, but they are trying to stick me with a 2.0ghz 760 processor.

I enjoy being able to alt-tab almost seemlessly out of my games and surf the internet and run other programs. Will I still be able to do this with this system? I need advice as to what to do. I have no doubt that the xps is more powerful for gaming, but oc'ing the card sounds a bit more of a hassle than with the 9400. Also, the xps is ugly and flashy. Are there replacement covers for it? Any advice or someone with a simialr experience please help!

The XPS M170 will definitely win in the graphics department, but someone else might want to place some input on the processor. You may want to check out Notebookforums.com since they have a large, active forum on the 17" Monitor notebooks offered by dell and they may be able to give you some more sound advice on the differences between the systems.
