Inspiron 9100 running hot after adding 2x512MB Samsung PC3200

My 9100 only had 512 on it when I bought it, and I required an upgrade for better Battlefield 2 play. A friend gave me 2 512MB Samsung PC3200 chips that he had in his Alienware, so I put them in with out issue. The system registered the memory just fine, gameplay was fantastic for a while, and then all of a sudden the fans kicked on louder than I've ever heard before. The bottom of the laptop was warm-hot, but to be honest it gets fairly warm anyway.

Any thoughts? Is the memory likely deficient? Any harm in just doing a burn-in (perhaps even literally) and just seeing if the system remains stable? Obviously my main concern is that I don't want to harm the machine.

Thanks!

Maybe you've never pushed the system that hard before. BF2 can generate alot of heat. Maybe use speed fan or fangui to for the fans on low at the start and ramp them up sooner to prevent heat build up.

It's also likely that the cover for the ram acts as a kind of heatsink, so it should be getting warm. Thats why the thing has feet. If you use it in your lap put it on a book or somthing to allow for air flow.
