Inspiron 8600 touchpad funkiness

I'm having a prob with clicking. It's really odd. Sometimes tapping the pad doesn't work, most commonly right after I've moved the mouse. So for example, if I'm moving the mouse towards a button and then tap to click it, nothing happens. I have plenty of experience with touchpads so I'm not doing anything stupid... it seems something is messed up or maybe the Alps touchpad settings are set in such a way that something is going on I'm not aware of.

Any ideas?

PS: This seems to happen randomly.

Get the latest drivers for the touchpad and install them. If you have the latest drivers, re install them.

Every oncei n awhile while typing my cursor goes wherever the heck it wants to. I'll try the new drivers, too. Hopefully it'll help.
