inspiron 8600 recognize SSD??

As the title suggests I have an Inspiron 8600. I was wondering if it could even recognize an SSD if I tried to put one in there.

Do older notebook BIOS' have problems recognizing SSDs or would that be a transparent upgrade?

I know my i8600 can't recognize HHDs larger than about 100GB for OS purposes. I have to make sure the OS is within the first 80-100GB or else I can't boot.

Anyway, using an SSD would be a huge speed boost for it....if it worked..... 🙂

duh me - not thinking about PATA to SATA problems. I guess some PATA SSD's exist...but now not really sure it would be worth it....

*sigh* maybe I will have to retire this workhorse of mine....

Yeah, was looking them up last night after thinking about Newegg's SSD sale today...and realized it just wouldn't be worth it given their expense and small capacity.

Oh well, it was a thought. 🙂
