Inspiron 8000

I just received my new Dell Inspiron 8000 yesterday. It's great! Beautiful screen and very fast. Just a couple of quick questions. It came with Win ME and I upgraded to Win 2000 using a regular Win 2000 upgrade disk. When I turn on the computer and log in, the volume is very loud. I turn down the volume and then a couple seconds later, it jumps back up. Any ideas? Also, when coming out of suspend, the desktop comes back and the mouse can move for about 2-4 seconds and then it hard locks with the disk access lights on. I have 20GB hdd, CD-RW in fixed bay, and DVD in the modular bay. Any ideas on this one? Thanks.

Hi Shawn,

I have an Inspiron 8000 also, and found the sound was really loud during boot up. If you are using the little volume buttons on the top of the keyboard, I think they only work for the session. I found using the volume adjustment in the system tray allowed the settings to stay where they were after shutting down the computer.

Hope that helps.
