Inspiron 2600 keyboard no longer works

My housemate's 2600 keyboard suddenly stopped working, and I have no idea how to fix this. I'm dreading another conversation with the Indian tech support; so I've come to you folks for help. Attaching a keyboard via the PS/2 port works just fine. I've futzed around in the BIOS, but I can't find anything that indicates a problem.
