Hi all,

Dell is running some pretty good deals right now.

Basically, I can get this:

Inspiron 2200
celeron M processor
256mb of ram
40gb hd
14" XGA screen
internal wireless
cdrw
free printer
43Whr NiMh battery (ick)

add in 256mb of ram from crucial, and I can get this all for $500 after everything
(or $600 with the Pentium-M rather than the celeron).

Main questions:

(1) How's the build quality?
(2) How long does this NiMh battery last with (a) the celeron-m (b) the p-m
(3) I'm worried about the XGA screen, should I find something that does at least WXGA?
(4) Can I simply add in an extra stick of 256mb ram to goto 512?

Thanks,

-Neil

I have the 8600 listed in my sig so im familiar with dell lappy's

first things first what are your uses? just word documents? any gaming etc.

1)dell's quality isnt the best but most of the lappy's ive seen are very respecable
2)i know my 8600 w/ a 15.4" widescreen and pentium M (but with a 7200rpm HD) could last about 3.5hours or so while surfing and using office software. However a year later im struggling w/ about 1hour.
3)I know my GF has a 600m w/ WXGA and Im not a big fan of the viewing angles but once agin depends on your needs for just basic word apps and such you should be ok for the price
4) the laptop will have 2slots for RAM so yes you could add another 256 stick to get to 512 but I would really look into a stick of 512 for future upgradability.hope something helps
