Currently running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1.

Problem:
Problem started two weeks ago.
Audio is distorted. Both in speakers and headphones.
Tried using USB sound card. Problem persists.
Booted from Ubuntu Linux on USB. Problem persists.
Booted from Windows 10 Tech Preview on USB. Problem persists.
Uninstalled and reinstalled audio drivers on all OS. Problem persists.
Am at a loss to understand.
No hardware, software changes or any associated misadventure.
Very reliable machine.
Need to extend life.
Considering replacing motherboard.
Or chipset.
Would appreciate any advice.
