Inspirion 5000e doesn't do anything... $20 for a solution.

So when I try to power it on, it turns on for about 4 seconds, then turns off. 3 seconds later, it powers back on and then repeats. The only way to stop it is to pull the battery out.

The LCD display shows nothing.

Ideas?

Edit. I have disassembled the laptop... upon removing the CPU, the fan goes on and off just once. With the CPU inserted, it goes on and off, on and off. At this point i have no HSF on it, so I don't let it run for more than two or three resets.

I'm willing to Paypal around $15-20 for a workable solution to this problem.

sounds like a bad motherboard?

I don't think that will help you that much though, is the laptop even in warranty still?
