Inspired by Burek's post- Bush supporters, if a deal was being cut with Saddam for his freedom, would you back it?

If this were true would Bush backers support the decision?

Assuming good faith negogiations (in other words not a trap) Saddam gets out of the country safely, but in return gives Bush the WMDs and plans for them that the administration claimed existed, but cannot find. We also get his money.

What would you think if it were done, if you supported it or not?

*NOTE*- Saying it can't be true, or consider the source is irrevelent. This is a hypothetical, so the whole question is based on the premise that it the article is factually correct.

If there was any hint of where Saddam was hiding,
I doubt that there would be any negotiations for surrender.
There may be a task force on standby awaiting orders for the final strike though.

My possible 'YES' could easily be a 'NO' depending on terms. The ONLY way I'd support it is to get secure him and info so he actually held up his end of an agreement first - since he has shown his tendency to not uphold his end of things in the past;)

I dunno, Saddam was never one to be trusted. Why they would all of a sudden negotiate with him, when they have the upper hand, is beyond me. *IF* the article is true, then what's the point, we're gonna get him anyways. How many chances did we give him to get out before? If the location of WMD is revealed and authenticated before he takes off to Belarus, then yeah, I guess so. I can just see him getting to 'safety' then replying "WMD? Oh yeah, deep inside Syria...have fun looking!"

I don't think this can happen because he knows stuff we would like never to be revealed.

I'm having more doubts about this: Saddam in the past stated he would die in Iraq. Also, he is responsible for the deaths of millions of Iraqi and Iranians (oh and Kurds too). If he leaves Iraq, where he arguably has the most support remaining, he'll be constantly on the look out for people looking for payback, a la the Jews hunting down Nazi members after WWII.

I doubt this thing is for real.

Such as? No no, wait, let me guess...there's no WMD.

Are you sure he's not responsible for the deaths of billions of Iraqi and Iranians (oh and Kurds too)?

He used to be our friend. I'm sure he could be again.

Edit: Come to think of it, he might be an excellent way to fix our problem in Iraq. He does have a track record of maintaining order and what we've brought is chaos instead.

Who cares if it takes a few villages to be nerve gassed to keep order, right Moonie? It's the results that matter.

Other than taking a shot at Bush '41 (arguably payback for the arse-kicking in the Gulf War) . . . what violation of US law are we charging against Saddam?
